Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life’s been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother’s pretty much checked out. Now Zara’s living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays “safe.” Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother can’t deal.
Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn’t a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie—and not the cute, lovable kind with wings. He’s the kind who has dreadful, uncontrollable needs. And he’s trailing Zara.
With suspense, romance, and paranormal themes, this exciting breakout novel has all the elements to keep teens rapidly turning the pages.
I simply devoured this book. It is that great. The first few chapters weren’t giving off the OMG THIS BOOK IS MADE OF AWESOMENESS. There were a few spots I was like, “Why would she write that? Where is this going?” But my oh my, was I WRONG! Carrie Jones pulls out all stops in Need, and delivers a fantastic novel!
All the characters were totally real. I loved all of the characters. Issie was such a fun and quirky character. Megan was the stereotypical ice queen. Devyn to me seemed really sweet and someone you can always count on. Gram was awesome! She was the coolest Grandma EVER! Zara was great. You could sympathize with her in some way throughout the entire book. Nick is uber hot to the max, and sparks that go asizzlin’ between him and Zara are wow.
Carrie Jones captivates readers with her thrilling plot and keeps them in their seats, erasing all urges to anything else in their life but finish the book. I did figure out a few things way early in the game that you find out for sure much later. That knowing gave me another almost push to see what happened next, as I had to know what all the characters would think!
Need had everything a great novel needs – romance, great plot, well written characters, the list goes on and on. I would recommend Need to everyone! I NEED Captivate, like now. Ha, don’t you love awful puns? :)
