Summary via Goodreads: Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

This is an awesome awesome book. I was expecting the awesome, but I was not expecting what Paranormalcy actually turned out to be. I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, but Paranormalcy went down a road I was not expecting in the least. It is a book that will have you reading straight through, with your eyes glued to the page.

Paranormalcy is the most original paranormal I have read in a while, perhaps ever. I just loved the concept. Kiersten White includes a full cast of paranormal creatures, which was rather epic. There are your usual vampires and werewolves, but also mermaids, hags, water spirits, and many more. I hadn’t even heard of some of them.

Evie was a character so easy to love! She’s funny, totally girly, and super cool. Growing up in the IPCA without much contact with the outside world, affected how she views it. The other characters are just as much fun. Lend is so awesome. He just filled up the story. Another character I really liked was Lish. Her role was so unique. Reth was a character I wanted to hate, yet I just couldn’t.

Another great thing about Paranormalcy is while you are reading you are constantly asking questions. You are trying to figure out what Evie is, what Reth is up to, and so much more. While you have the main plot, there are all sorts of threads that take you in different directions as well.

I absolutely loved Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. I simply cannot wait for book two, Supernaturally, and the continuation of Evie, Lend, and all the other fun characters story! I can’t wait to find out what will come next.

I have been impressed by the reviews I have read that have mentioned this book goes down an original path rather than the overdone paranormal type Twilght-esque books. So I guess I might pick it up!

I cannot wait to read this. I've heard such great things! It's killing me that there's a wait at the library. I'm trying to keep my book buying to a minimum, but I don't know how long that's going to last!
