YA Historical Fiction Challenge

I’m super excited that there is now a YA Historical Fiction challenge hosted by the wonderful Sabrina at YA Bliss. I absolutely adore historical fiction so I am very excited!

Historical fiction: tells a story that is set in the past. That setting is usually real and drawn from history, and often contains actual historical persons, but the principal characters tend to be fictional. Writers of stories in this genre, while penning fiction, attempt to capture the spirit, manners, and social conditions of the persons or time(s) presented in the story, with due attention paid to period detail and fidelity. Sabrina made an lovely Goodreads Historical Fiction folder here!

I’m shooting for level 3 which means I have to read 15 YA Historical Fictions! (I’m counting historical fantasies and paranormals, because I can. I mean they take place in the past, so I’m calling them good) :)

My list:
1 – Daughter of Xanadu by Dori Jones Yang
2 – Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey
3 – The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
4 – The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
5 – Fateful by Claudia Gray
6 – Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
7 – Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
8 – Dark Mirror by MJ Putney
9 – Dark Passage by MJ Putney
10 – Breath of Angel by Karyn Henley
11 – Nightspell by Leah Cypess
12 – Eon by Alison Goodman

Adult title – The Very Thought of You by Rosie Alison

I also reread A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing.
