Things between cocktail waitress Sookie and her vampire boyfriend Bill seem to be going excellently (apart from the small matter of him being undead) until he leaves town for a while. A long while. Bill’s sinister boss Eric has an idea of where to find him, whisking her off to Jackson, Mississippi to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. When she finally catches up with the errant vampire, he is in big trouble and caught in an act of serious betrayal. This raises serious doubts as to whether she should save him or start sharpening a few stakes of her own …
I really really enjoyed this one! I think it was my favorite in the series thus far. Like the other ones in the series, the action was hopping and the characters were just marvelous. It was another un-put-down-able read from Charlaine Harris.
I loved the plot in this one – it was fun to be somewhere other than Bon Temps. I love seeing what Sookie and the others will find themselves having to figure out next.
I loved the characters in this one – the new characters were super fun. Bubba made another appearance in this one, and I think he is a fun character, despite being a little creepy with his cat obsession. Alcide was a new character in this book, that I hope comes back in every book from here on out – I absoltuely loved him and I am not strongly Team Eric / Alcide. I love both of them quite a lot, and there was quite a bit of both of them in this one.
I would really suggest this series. It really is not the best written or anything like that, but the plot and characters make up for the lapse in other things. They are just a ton of fun to read!

I liked this one too. Alcide is sure a hottie. I think he is one of the reasons I like weres so much. But I think I'll always be Team Eric. I hope you like the next one in the series. It was one of my favorites.
I like this one too! But I'm not really a Team Alcide/Eric either.
