The Unfinished Chronicles (1)
With the new year, I have a lot of new ideas I’m bringing to the blog and the first is The Unfinished Chronicles. I wish I could finish every book I start, but sometimes I just don’t or can’t. And some of the books have some really excellent qualities, so I thought I would start doing little mini almost reviews of what I was thinking at the time. I’ll do one of these maybe once a month or so.
Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza - This one was super interesting, but as of right now, I just couldn’t deal with the not one but two mean girls in the book. They were grating on my nerves. I can’t do the stereotypical mean girl, I just find them obnoxious. The scifi element was cool and I was just getting to the development of it when I decided to stop reading. I think I will pick this one up at another time, but putting it down for now. I love Mila – what a great MC.
Crusher by Niall Leonard - So here’s the thing: Crusher had a really cool premise. It just failed to pull me in. I gave it 100 pages, waiting. The writing came across as distant to me so I had a hard time getting into the story. There were elements of the story that attracted me, but overall, I didn’t have a constant pull to the story and a will to keep reading.
Origin by Jessica Khoury - I absolutely loved Jessica Khoury’s gorgeous prose and the concept of the story, but some characteristics of the main character stopped me from falling in love with the world of the story. Since I’m such a character girl, it was enough that for now, I am putting it down. I may give this one another chance, maybe this summer.

Super new feature. I really enjoyed your post and hearing what the reason was you couldn’t/didn’t finish. It’s very fair and informative, because some readers may enjoy something others don’t. I see this as a positive for the author’s and readers. Very creative and helpful. Thanks!

Ditto what Paul said.
We enjoyed MILA 2.0, btw, so we definitely encourage you to finish it when you’re more in the mood.
