College Blogger Series: Keep a Routine

This is another of the posts in my rambly College Blogger Series, which are basically posts where I tell you my best tips for running a successful book blog while in college.

So my tip to you today is keep a routine. I like structure in my life. I make charts for everything, I like to keep things the same, and I’ve found that that part of me works out real well when I am trying to blog while in college. I developed a routine for my blog. I know I am each day. Each day has a typical sort of post to go up. This makes planning SO much less stressful. Most things stay the same around here:

For me

Mondays – This is where I do my feature New Release Monday. It stays the same week after week
Tuesday – Top Ten Tuesday – one of 2 memes I participate in
Wednesday – Waiting on Wednesday – the other meme I participate in
Thursday – Saturday – Book Reviews
Sunday – Sunday now belongs to the College Blogger Series

See how everything is the same week after week? It makes scheduling a LOT easier. I have a calendar I refer to and I draft out posts as soon as I know a date I need to post, that way I can’t forget them.

The routine though doesn’t just stick with your blog: Keep a normal schedule as well. I’ve found blocking in an hour of blogging time that is solely just for blogging on Sundays is something great for me. I can get everything I need to get written for the upcoming week done or at least start working on it. The nice thing about college is you aren’t in class all day, but you still have a ton of work. Try to block out time to do certain things, that way you’ll always get things done. For example, I usually do my laundry, wishes, all that sort of things on Sunday. I also have certain days I always go to the library to study. Get my drift?

Routines are so helpful to keep your life running smoother and stress free, so my tip to you is find a routine that works and go with it :)

Great post, it’s so easy to get caught up in something, that you run out of time. I am a big scheduler too, and I have lots of post it notes and index cards lying all around, even though I use google calendar. I am constantly checking and rechecking my lists. Thanks for all your hard work and for such a great blog. Have a great day!!

Completely agree! Our schedule (Twitter Tues, discussion posts on Thurs, and we go in a rotation between the 4 of us) is definitely what keeps us sane and our blog functional.

In the beginning, I blogged on a schedule as well, and now I have so many things to post, I don’t even need a schedule. Good for you on following a schedule!

Yes I love a good routine too and it definitely helps keeping up with blogging! Blogging can be overwhelming when there is so much to do for school or work. If you limit yourself and know exactly what to post every day, it makes everything go smoother and easier!

Lol this is so funny since I was just telling this to my boyfriend this afternoon. I told him I function so much better when I know I have certain things to do at certain times. I think it keeps me more organized and keeps me happy.

    Great Post!
