College Blogger Series: Meet Nichole from YA Reads
Welcome to the second week of the College Blogger Series. Today we get to meet Nichole from YA Reads :) Here is what she had to say:
Tell us a little about yourself. Perhaps your major, career goals, where you go to school, whatever really.

My name’s Nichole. I am 22 years old and a senior at The Evergreen State College in Washington State. I’m an English major, and I intend to become a elementary teacher. Actually, I’ll be getting two different teaching endorsements (hopefully!) First, I will be getting an endorsement in elementary education. That basically means that I will be able to teach anything in a K-8 setting. I will also be getting an endorsement in high school English, grades 9-12.
Yay for someone else getting a teaching degree :) Now that we know a little about YOU, tell us about your blog.
I have been one of the American reviewers over at www.yareads.com since, I think, February, 2012. So, I’m about to hit my year mark! We focus on promoting both published and indie authors in the YA genre. Since I’ve joined the team, I’ve really tried to incorporate some of my favorite adult books onto the site. I feel that it’s really important for my viewers to know about everything that’s out there.
You can find tons of stuff on YaReads! From interviews, guest posts, book reviews, and all the other sorts of random posts we throw in there. I try my hardest to make it fun for everyone!
What is your favorite genre to read?
…..
uhm.
I love paranormal and dystopia, but I think my favorite would have to be paranormal. I’ve recently discovered that I actually DO like contemporary books, so..who knows? Contemporary might be my number one pick by the end of 2013.
The best book you have read lately?
These questions are killing me! Do you know how much I read?! Ok, well I can’t just label one, so I’m going to label the last few amazing books that I’ve read recently!
Obsidian and Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout (yes, I’m lumping them together!)
Thirteen by Kelley Armstrong
Storm and Spark by Brigid Kemmerer
What is your go to beverage to wake yourself up or to keep yourself going during a cram session?
I’m sure everyone’s answer would be coffee, but I’m actually not the biggest coffee fan. I only drink it when my mom drinks it and that’s because I want to pretend I’m even more like her than I already am. I actually drink a LOT of water. Probably more than a gallon a day. I also rely on orange juice and Mikes Hard [=
Your best tip on running a blog while in college?
I’d like to point out that I go to a Liberal Arts college, so my classes are not as hard as those in other universities. For example, we don’t get grades. However, we CAN lose credits!
I normally don’t have any homework. This quarter is a bit of an exception, because I’m taking Precalculus and A&P. So, for the most part, I have plenty of time to take care of the blog. Typically, though, one class is 4-5 hours long, so classes do eat up a chunk of my week.
Tell us one thing we may not have know about you.
I am totally OCD. Everything has to be in order. If it’s too messy or if things are not exactly where they are supposed to be, then I go nuts. I also have routine habits, and if I stray away from those habits I get extreme anxiety. I’m a freak.
Now for some fun This or Thats
Quiet or Noisey study space?
Quiet. I cannot focus in loud spaces. I’m one of those people where if you read the problem out loud, then I cannot retain any of it. I need absolute quiet so I can focus. That becomes a problem when I’m forced to work in groups. I get things done better all by myself [=
Pens or Pencils?
Pens! I’m having to use a pencil this quarter for the first time in years! It’s driving me nuts!
Mac or PC?
PC!
Harry or Ron?
I have to stick with Harry. It is called Harry Potter for a reason [=
Peeta or Gale?
I was actually team Gale throughout the entire series. I was really upset that Peeta won.
Book or Ebook?
I prefer books, but I do have a nook [=
Book or Movie?
Book! The movies are never the same!
Cookies or Cupcakes?
White cupcakes with chocolate frosting [=
Morning or Night?
Night! You don’t want to be around me in the morning. I’m not a pleasant person at that time.
I am not a morning person at all either – Thanks Nichole so much for stopping by! I love seeing everyone’s answers. So leave Nichole some love in the comments or head on over to YA Reads :)

I am really enjoying this series! Since I’ll be in college next year, it is interesting to see how everyone manages their blog.
